Should I get an iPod touch to use Internet and Skype internationally?

Is there a better device I should look into? I’m looking to live out of the country, and want to be able to use Skype to talk to my parents on their computer in the US. Will it be really difficult and/or expensive?

An iPod Touch doesn’t have 3G Internet access if that’s a problem, if not than an iPod Touch to use with Skype would be fairly cost effective (avoids roaming and international calls). It should be pretty straight forward, once Skpye is set up on both than it should be smooth sailing.
