Ethernet broadband router for networking?
I just got a second computer and a nexxtech ethernet broadband router. The router is working and 1 of my computers is working just fine with it. The other computer doesnt work right, cant access the internet. The computer that doesnt work right was recently on a wireless network/LAN. I see that my router says WAN. Anybody have any ideas on what to do to get the second computer to work with the router? Do I have to change some settings or what? Thanks in advance!
Can you “see” the other PC from your PC?
Run the network wizard on both machines an leave everything as default but the Internet settings… I suspect you are trying to share the internet… to do that you need to use the MAC ID cloning utility of your router.. Go to your router adminstration page (from internet explorer almost allways 192.168.0.1). browse all the tabs and look for something like MAC cloning or something like that… click on clone mac… now you can share the internet…
About the machines… some routers are not so good at assigning IPs so I might try assigning IPs manually to each machine… go to control panel>network and TCP/IP… change the IP of every machine to 192.168.0.100, 192.168.0.101, etc.
Restart both machines… and see if it works… this can take some time the first time…
